Google Launched a Virtual Tour of Nepal’s Everest Region

(AFP) Google launched a virtual tour of Nepal’s Everest region allowing armchair tourists a rare glimpse of life in one of the toughest and most inaccessible places on earth. The Street View project takes viewers into the heart of the Sagarmatha national park, home to the world’s highest mountain, where icy blue rivers run below snow-capped peaks, monks play traditional music and yak-herders navigate precipitous stone-strewn trails. Armed with two single-lens tripod cameras and a 15-lens custom-built, “Trekker” unit designed for backpacks, teams travelled on foot to capture more than 45,000 panoramic images of the remote villages inhabited by the ethnic Sherpa community in the eastern Himalayas. Google Chrome OS launching mid-year !

Originally announced with a planned second half of 2010 launch, today Google has narrowed the launch of its Chrome OS to fall. This, according to Sundar Pichai, Google VP of product management speaking at Computex. By our calculation that is sometime between 22 September and 21 December in the northern hemisphere if you want to take the man literally... and you do, don't you. Wonder if we'll see a Chrome OS tablet launch at the same time?

Google fights for Android : sued for name use

The latest speculation created by Android is  not on some new launch or feature but the name itself. According to Forbes, a software developer named Erich Specht who also happens to be an ISP is suing the search giant for using the name Android. Not only is Specht suing Google, he’s also intent on doing the same with 46 other companies over the use of the name. He runs a company called Android Data Corp. He’s suing the companies for a whopping $94 million. The list includes major U.S. firms like Motorola ( MOT - news - people ), Qualcomm ( QCOM - news - people ), Sprint Nextel ( S - news - people ), T-Mobile and Texas Instruments ( TXN - news - people ), and foreign companies such as China Mobile ( CHL - news - people ), Samsung, Telefonica ( TEF - news - peo...

Search for specific file types

Here's a simple trick you all must know when you want to search for a specific file type in Google. Here's what you need to do. I had to present a presentation on Stars and had to make it on PowerPoint. So as u know PowerPoint presentation have an extension i.e. ppt (or pptx). So here's what you should type in the search box in Google. Space filetype:ppt Its that simple. And the coolest thing it shows the link to directly download the file. So the download would start if you click on any search results. Cool isn't it.

Samsung's next to adopt Google's Android

Iphone was the talk of the last year, but undoubtedly the year 2009 is destined to be the year of The Android. With Samsung just announcing its next smart phones to have Android. Samsung's smart phone is supposed to be a touch-screen phone much similar to its smart phone - Omnia and Instinct. The phone is going to be a full touchscreen with a few buttons only. We could only wait and watch for the next generation of Google phones.
